DIY Glam Phone

Today's post comes courtesy of my girlfriend from work. She decided the other day that she wanted to glam up her phone and had seen my DIY Glam Wine Bottle post and asked how she could go about doing it. I explained everything she would need and told her she had to take photos every step of the way so I could post her fab phone on my blog! So here is her step by step guide to a glam phone.

1. Gather the materials: superglue, fine glitter, mod podge, a foam brush, a toothpick, gems and clear nail polish
2. Mod podge the case and sprinkle the glitter over it

3. Using the toothpick dipped in the nail polish and put superglue on the back of the gem and add them to the case

4. spray with clear protective spray and you're all done!!
I probably won't be able to post for the next two nights because I'll be in BOSTON running a 5k!! Woo! Wish me luck! And since I won't be around I want to shout out to Ashley at A to Z with Ashley for giving me a pair of shoes today that I'm TOTALLY in love with! I'll share them in my next post and probbbbably post them on my instagram tomorrow when I wear them to work! Thanks girl!

"OOTD"

Today is another outfit post. The issue is- my boyfriend takes awkward pictures so that they look disproportionate and I've tried to get him to fix his picture taking but it's a work in progress. ANYWAY ignoring the awkward proportions of my pictures, here is my outfit for the day (aka OOTD- just learned what that meant) I've worn both these items before but we woke up late and I am kinda obsessed with this shirt. It's from T.J. Maxx but you can find a similar one here (on sale) or here, love this leopard collared one.

The pencil skirt is from H&M and you can find similar ones
here (on sale) and here. One thing my guy did right in his photography is catch my arm candy- I also featured both of these in previous posts but you can find them here and here and similar styles here, here, here and here. My sunglasses are from yesterday's post, bought at Urban Outfitters

My heels are from Marshall's (for $12 about a year ago) but here and here (on sale) you can find similar ones and here is a white version, and here is a wedge version I really like.

Also- when I was looking for similar bracelets to my Michael Kors one, I found this bracelet... and ordered it.

Summer Shoe Trends

This weekend I’m taking a trip to my boyfriend’s family beach house. I’m super excited because we haven’t gotten to the beach this summer and I love it down there. Another factor in my excitement is that there are outlets and shoportunities everywhere in the neighboring towns. I put together a list of summer shoe trends that I love and will be keeping my eyes pealed for.

Summer Shoe Trends

Embellished sandals / Betsey Johnson wedge sandals / TOMS slip on shoes, $55 / Giuseppe Zanotti wedge sandals / Splendid high heel shoes / Nelly Shoes high heel shoes, $62 / DV by Dolce Vita thong sandals / Flat shoes / Bootie boots

1.     Bright Comfy Flats
·   I love my red classic TOMS, I wear them all the time and they are definitely my quick go to. Similar to these are Sperry topsiders which have great patterns
2.     Mint
·  Mint is definitely a huge color this summer and these heels are great to match with pretty much anything. Mint has quicly become a neutral and since it’s so popular, the color with be everywhere!
3.     Patriotic
·   Especially with 4th of July festivities (and it is an election year) the red white and blue is a great trend to follow. These wedges would look great with a white sundress
4.     Neon
·  Like mint, neon is everywhere you look! These are a great pair of color block heels but any pop of neon makes an outfit instantly more fun. Neon is a great look for day or night so if that BQQ turns into a night out you’re all set!
5.     Metallic Accents
·  I love this trend! It’s like jewelry for your feet! Which is great because I wasn’t ever a big fan of anklets and toe rings. It adds some sparkle and it ties a look together when you wear fun jewelry. Spikes are a common addition that are edgy and cool.
6.     Aztec Patterns
·   I’ve seen this pattern all over. It’s great because its colorful and fun- perfect for summer! It also has so many colors that you can wear solid colors and still not have a boring outfit. Wedges are great too, they don’t sink into the grass at a BBQ!
7.     Leopard
·    I’ve always liked the look of leopard thrown into an outfit and these loafers are perfect for that. They go with pretty much everything and they are a great alternative to plain black or brown flats. I love the look of leopard and red together.
8.     Chunky heels
·  These have been something I've wanted to try but I want to try a pair on before I order them. I'm hoping they look good because I love them. I'm picturing them with a hi-low cotton skirt, they would look awesome!
9.     Embellishments
·   I'm totally into this one- the more glam and sparkle the better! Beading, sequins, and glitter work on everything- casual flats to night-on-the-town pumps. These sandals are great because they can go either way!

Glam Wine Gift

I know I’ve been away the past few days- it was a difficult and busy weekend but I’m back!

I was visiting with my best friend in Boston. She’s had a kind of up and down month and we decided to take up wine skyping (aka skyping and drinking wine- I highly recommend it). So the first time we wine skyped I bought a bottle of Relax wine since my constant advice to her is “just relaxxxxx!”. You usually see it in Riesling but I prefer red wine and when saw this red bottle I knew that it would work great, and it did! So when I found out I was going to be visiting I wanted to get her a little something to help her “Relax” and bought her a bottle. I thought about just putting it in a cute wine bag but I have a ton of glitter and jewels and I figured I’d try something new.

I used self stick jewels, Recollections "Fine Glitter", Mod Podge, I started with the bottle and just to get all the wine store dust off I wiped it clean with a dry paper towel. Keep in mind you can use any wine or liquor bottle for that matter!

Now I’m going to ask you to do as I say not as I do because I got over excited about jewels and did those first. DON’T! it made the bottle messier than I liked and I had to do touch ups and it was a pain. SO tape off the label and the top of the bottle (use masking or painters tape if it’s around. If not, scotch tape works ok which is what I used). Take a sponge brush and Mod Podge sections at a time then sprinkle the red glitter over it. Do as much of the inside as you can and let dry (-if you have the time. I didn’t so I went right to the next step)

Mod Podge as close to the tape as possible and try not to get too much on the tape itself then pour glitter over those areas. Let dry. (again if you’re pressed for time and are ok with getting messy you can continue but it’s a pain)

Next comes the jewels! I found really tiny ones that I put on the letters to bedazzle “RELAX” and then more on the cap just because I like sparkle.

Once it is dry take the tape off SLOWLY! And if you need to clean it up by using a knife to make clean lines. Then spray with acrylic sealer.

NOTE: spray the sealer OUTDOORS! And if you can- plan on leaving the bottle out there. It is stinky!

The end result is  Glam Wine Bottle to give to a friend that we can both enjoy and after we’re done enjoying the wine she can have a fun glittery decoration for her room!

My girlfriend loved it and I did too! It's an awesome, easy way to personalize a gift! Although it cost a few bucks for the glitter and stick on jewels and obviously the wine, it got a great reaction and glitter is useful pretty much everywhere.

Happy 4th, happy crafting and happy gifting!

Work to Weekend

It’s finally Friday again and I am really excited about the weekend! It's a busy one for sure. As far as tonight goes, I’m going out to a bar (which I don’t do very often because I’m sort of lame) with my boyfriend and some of his family. I have to go right after work and run errands for my plans tomorrow so I won’t have time to go back home before I go out. Since I won’t have time for a wardrobe change I planned accordingly. If you pack your work purse/bag with a clutch and makeup you can be all set to head out on the town! Since I won’t have time for a picture I figured I’d try this out. It’s incredibly close to what I’m wearing today. Except I don’t have that clutch. Except now I do because I just bought it.
