Friday Shopping

It's Friday! Even though this week got split, I'm still exhausted. I'm definitely looking forward to the weekend. Since I was day dreaming of the weekend all day it was hard to focus and of course when I can't focus on work, I shop.

So today I bought:

from tobi I got the rippled zig zag scarf in teal, and the R&R sweater              

                            

from Dorothy Perkins I got the Lilac/Pink scarf print vest, the foil peacock bikini top and the Pearl cord necklace

There are so many sales and great items available, I can't wait to get all my packages in!

Summer Shoe Trends

This weekend I’m taking a trip to my boyfriend’s family beach house. I’m super excited because we haven’t gotten to the beach this summer and I love it down there. Another factor in my excitement is that there are outlets and shoportunities everywhere in the neighboring towns. I put together a list of summer shoe trends that I love and will be keeping my eyes pealed for.

1.     Bright Comfy Flats

·   I love my red classic TOMS, I wear them all the time and they are definitely my quick go to. Similar to these are Sperry topsiders which have great patterns

2.     Mint

·  Mint is definitely a huge color this summer and these heels are great to match with pretty much anything. Mint has quicly become a neutral and since it’s so popular, the color with be everywhere!

3.     Patriotic

·   Especially with 4^th of July festivities (and it is an election year) the red white and blue is a great trend to follow. These wedges would look great with a white sundress

4.     Neon

·  Like mint, neon is everywhere you look! These are a great pair of color block heels but any pop of neon makes an outfit instantly more fun. Neon is a great look for day or night so if that BQQ turns into a night out you’re all set!

5.     Metallic Accents

·  I love this trend! It’s like jewelry for your feet! Which is great because I wasn’t ever a big fan of anklets and toe rings. It adds some sparkle and it ties a look together when you wear fun jewelry. Spikes are a common addition that are edgy and cool.

6.     Aztec Patterns

·   I’ve seen this pattern all over. It’s great because its colorful and fun- perfect for summer! It also has so many colors that you can wear solid colors and still not have a boring outfit. Wedges are great too, they don’t sink into the grass at a BBQ!

7.     Leopard

·    I’ve always liked the look of leopard thrown into an outfit and these loafers are perfect for that. They go with pretty much everything and they are a great alternative to plain black or brown flats. I love the look of leopard and red together. 

8.     Chunky heels

·  These have been something I've wanted to try but I want to try a pair on before I order them. I'm hoping they look good because I love them. I'm picturing them with a hi-low cotton skirt, they would look awesome!

9.     Embellishments

·   I'm totally into this one- the more glam and sparkle the better! Beading, sequins, and glitter work on everything- casual flats to night-on-the-town pumps. These sandals are great because they can go either way! 

Fashion DIY- Color Block Belt

Here is another DIY and a great solution to a problem I have. I have an annoying number of skinny brown belts in my closet from pairs of shorts, dresses and skirts that I bought. If you know what I'm talking about, you'll know most of them look very cheap and I usually just use the skinny belts I bought separately. This is an easy way to revamp a belt!

Here's what I started with: 

**I used sparkly string because I love sparkles, but you could do any color combo!

Step 1: krazyglue the first color string to the back of the belt, wait until it dries

Step 2: wrap the string around the belt keeping it pretty tight

Step 3: krazyglue the top half of the back belt and stick the string there until it's dry (this is just to make things easier on you) and tie a knot with the next color you want to use

Step 4: krazyglue the knot and the first wrap of the new color then start the process again

Step 5: when you reach the holes, you can stop as pictured or keep going (I kept going) If you chose to stop just krazyglue the strand to the back and you're done!

Step 6: if you keep going wrap up to the hole or holes you will want to leave available and glue the strand before the hole and cut the string

Step 7: krazyglue on the other side of the hole and start the process again

Step 8: when you reach the end, krazyglue the last 1/4 in and wrap til you can't anymore

YOU'RE DONE!

And now you have a glam belt to wear with a fun summer outfit! (Excuse my creepy boyfriend in the background)

**I just want to warn you- this takes a while and it's pretty tedious. I suggest putting in a good movie and wrap while you watch or sit outside and soak up some sun. I did both.

DIY- monogram koozie

Since I joined Pinterest, I've bought a ton a craft supplies because there are a bunch of DIYs that I've wanted to try out. I end up getting random supplies that don't actually work together though. So today I went to the craft store with something specific in mind.


Altouhgh I wasn't going with the intention of getting koozies, I found a purple and a pink sparkly pair and couldn't say no. Not that they need much jazzing up but I wanted to personalize them a bit more. I had puffy glitter paint and decided monograms would work perfectly. 




Here's what I started with:

Step 1: Find a font you like and practice writing it in a size that fits the koozie. (I chose this font)

Step 2: Once you have that down, draw it onto the koozie in marker (I used permanent which ended up sorta messing up mine, but the one for Heater came out great!)

Step 3: Use the puff paint to follow the letters and voila! 

As you can see mine (the one one the right) ended up slightly less awesome than I had hoped. But really, when everyone's drinking no one will notice!


These are really cheap, and would be great for a bachelorette, bridal shower or as part of a summer gift basket.
